South Bank Parklands

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary

Brisbane Botanic Gardens
Located at Gardens Point by the Brisbane River, the Brisbane Botanic Gardens are well worth a visit. Queensland Performing Arts Centre

St. Helena Island
A great way to get a good overview of Brisbane's history is at St. Helena Island. Now a national park, this historical site was formerly a colonial prison. Visitors can take a short boat ride from Brisbane's mainland to the island to tour the ruins of the prison and other buildings. Other activities include a ghost tour and reenactments. As a national park, visitors also have the opportunity to enjoy nature and wildlife such as wallabies and many species of birds.
